Tohoku, with
time to look closer.
Festival floats, cherry-bark craft, wooded temples and thatched streets. Explore six prefectures through local days, choosing a base and leaving time for the details.

A different pace
Old streets, living places.
Ouchi-juku’s thatched buildings remain homes and businesses. Walk slowly, choose a meal and notice the work that keeps the village’s character alive.

Six prefectures, separate travel days
Choose a base before choosing attractions. Central Morioka, Matsushima and Kakunodate each offer compact visits; Oga, coastal Yamagata and Ouchi-juku need their own onward transport plans. These are places to choose among, not one route across the whole region.
Winter shortens temple hours and changes footing on stairs and slopes. Check the current calendar, return connections and road notices. At Sankyo Warehouses, the former souvenir facility has moved and the rice museum is currently closed. Individual guides explain the current visitor options.
