See cherry bark become a carefully made object.
Kakunodate’s craft museum introduces kabazaiku and the culture surrounding it. Look at materials and finish before browsing finished pieces, and check whether a production demonstration is running during your visit.

Look closely at the surface
Kabazaiku uses cherry bark, with texture and colour contributing to the finished object. The museum also presents local historical and cultural material. A demonstration can explain processes that are difficult to infer from a shop display, but its availability should be checked on the day.
Distinguish watching from making
A museum visit or demonstration is not a guaranteed hands-on workshop. Ask about separate arrangements if you want to make something. Pair the museum with Aoyagi’s estate, then leave a flexible break for a local shop or meal instead of adding a distant Akita destination.
