Use the keep to begin reading Aizu’s history.

The reconstructed keep houses a museum within Aizuwakamatsu’s castle grounds. Give the interpretation time, then step outside to look at the walls, open spaces and changing views of the building.

Distinguish the keep from other attractions

The museum, Rinkaku tea house and digital-art presentation have different ticket options. Choose what you want before buying; a similarly priced ticket is not necessarily the same product. The present keep is a reconstruction, so read the exhibitions alongside the historic site outside.

Leave the Aizu city stops enough room

Sazaedo is in the Iimoriyama area and requires an onward journey rather than a short stroll across the castle grounds. Ouchi-juku is farther away again. Build a realistic city day first, leaving the mountain post town for a separate transport plan.
