Kyoto Southern Higashiyama Half-Day Walk

Move from Kenninji’s temple spaces to an artist’s home and the sculpture hall at Sanjusangendo. This route connects different kinds of looking without crossing the whole city.

Three separate admission tickets

01 · Start around 10:00 · 45–60 minutes

02 · Walk south · 45–75 minutes

Kawai Kanjiro House →

Continue to the former home and studio. Give the furniture, ceramics and working spaces attention. The normal Monday closure and summer/winter breaks make this the key calendar check for the route.

03 · Continue south · 45–60 minutes

Sanjusangendo →

Leave enough time for the hall rather than arriving near last admission. From 16 November through March, last entry is 15:30. Shoes come off, and photographs are not permitted inside.

Make the plan work for you

Start in the morning during winter and keep lunch flexible so Sanjusangendo does not become a race. The walk includes urban crossings and historic buildings with access constraints. If Kawai Kanjiro House is closed, use the two temples as a shorter plan rather than promising the same experience.

The map includes every listed stop, including optional extensions. Remove optional stops if taking the shorter version. Google Maps supplies live directions; walking and visit times here are planning estimates, not a measured or guided tour.
