Walk into the rooms of an earlier Hokkaido.
Relocated historic buildings turn this open-air museum into a sequence of streets, workplaces and domestic spaces. Give the interiors time and pair the visit with Hokkaido Museum for a broader account of the island’s history.

The change from one building’s working space to another’s living rooms is the reason to slow down. Plan for outdoor walking between buildings and follow room-access signs. Seasonal rides and activities have their own operating conditions; they are optional additions.
Read the history in context
These buildings illuminate particular periods and communities, not the whole story of Hokkaido. The nearby museum adds natural history and Ainu cultural perspectives. May to September has a different closing-day pattern from winter; check holiday and snow-festival exceptions before travelling.
