Meet the objects of an Owari household.
Art and furnishings associated with the Owari Tokugawa family give this museum a different focus from a broad survey of Japanese art. Choose the current exhibition, then pair it with the neighbouring garden if you want an afternoon indoors and out.

Check what is on display
Fragile works rotate and special exhibitions follow their own dates. Do not plan around seeing one famous scroll without checking the current programme. Looking at a smaller selection carefully is more rewarding than expecting the entire collection to be permanently displayed.
Give the garden a separate block
Tokugawaen is next door, but it has its own entrance conditions and hours. Buy the ticket combination that matches your plans. The announced winter closure makes a late-December museum visit unsuitable; the garden’s calendar is different.
