Plan for the palace, grounds and exterior views.

Nagoya Castle is best approached with the current access conditions in mind: the castle keep interior is closed. The reconstructed Honmaru Palace, stonework and grounds still offer a substantial visit, with time to look beyond the familiar tower view.

Put Honmaru Palace first

The palace entrance is about a ten-minute walk from the main and east gates. Reaching a castle gate at 16:00 is too late for palace admission, so leave a useful margin. Follow the indoor photography and footwear instructions and allow extra time when entry queues form.

Understand the current ticket

The adult admission changed to ¥1,000 on 1 October 2026. Exterior views of the keep do not imply access inside it. Tokugawaen Garden is a separate destination across the city; a combined ticket does not remove the need to plan transport and opening hours.
