See the domestic side of Nagoya’s ceramics trade.

A former ceramics merchant’s home brings Japanese and Western rooms together around a garden. Shumokukan offers a smaller-scale architectural visit that pairs naturally with Futaba Museum along the Cultural Path.

Read the house through its rooms

Look at the relationship between the Western-style rooms, the Japanese house and the garden. Materials and window details reward a close look. Tea-room use, café service and events have separate arrangements; ordinary admission should be planned as a house-and-garden visit.

Compare it with Futaba

The short connection lets you appreciate two homes without rushing across the city. Add the Archives if you want to compare private domestic architecture with a formal civic building. Allow a separate break and check room-access notices on the day.
