Made for you.

A favourite pet, a portrait or a playful idea can become the starting point for a cup of coffee. HATCOFFEE, between Asakusa and Kuramae, specialises in made-to-order latte art. The appeal is in watching a personal request take shape, as well as enjoying the finished drink.

Why go

This is a good stop for travellers who enjoy seeing a maker at work. Arrive with an idea you care about and let the artist explain what is possible. A reference image on your phone can make a request easier to discuss; the staff’s advice should guide the final design.

The café’s personalised approach suits a slower break in an Asakusa or Kuramae outing. Leave enough time for the artwork and the drink rather than treating it as a quick takeaway stop.

Ordering your latte art

The shop creates custom designs, including requests based on pets and portraits. Ask about the available style and complexity before ordering. The booking notice currently excludes characters belonging to Sanrio and explains that some portrait requests may be difficult depending on the artists working that day.

For a portrait that is central to your visit, contact the shop through its Instagram account in advance. Confirm milk options, ingredients and any dietary requirements directly with the café.

Reservations, seating and cost

The current booking notice lists hours of 11:00–18:00, with last orders at 17:30. Advance reservation slots run from 11:00 to 14:00; later seating is handled on the day. Reservations for the following month open on the 15th of the current month.

At busy times, the café applies a 40-minute seating period once all ordered items have arrived. Contact the shop if you are running late: a reservation may be cancelled after 15 minutes without contact. Groups of six or more should ask the shop directly.

Prices depend on the order. Check the current menu before committing to a design, and allow for any accompanying food or dessert. An older review’s latte price should not be treated as a current quote.
