Fukuoka · Nakasu-Kawabata

A different perspective on modern Asian art.

In the Riverain building above Nakasu-Kawabata, this museum makes a focused art visit easy to combine with Hakata’s streets. Choose the current Asia Gallery display or a special exhibition, then continue into Kawabata.

Free building access is not a gallery ticket

Entering the museum’s public spaces is free, while the Asia Gallery collection display and special exhibitions have their own admissions. Pick the exhibition first and check its dates. Café and other public-area hours differ from gallery closing times.

An easy art-and-street pairing

Kawabata Shopping Arcade and Kushida Shrine make useful companions. On a rainy day, the gallery can be the main visit, with the arcade as a shorter browse. Remember the Wednesday closure and 26 December–1 January holiday closure when comparing it with the Monday-closing museum at Ohori.
