Look at the water as it is that day.

Standing trees and changing water colour make this a distinctive outdoor stop near Shirogane. The vivid blue seen in photographs depends on conditions; winter can cover the water with snow and create an entirely different scene.

Expect changing colour and visibility

Rain, snowmelt, light and season alter the pond. Treat the photograph as an example of a past visit, not a colour guarantee. Stay on the designated visitor route and check winter access and lighting notices for your exact date.

Plan transport before the photograph

This is not a town-centre walk from Biei Station. Check both directions of the bus journey or allow parking and driving time. Older guides may show the former ¥500 car-parking charge; the municipality raised the standard-car fee to ¥1,000 in July 2026.
