Ikebukuro · Architecture & heritage

A quieter space behind Ikebukuro.

Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and Arata Endo, Myonichikan offers an intimate architectural visit near one of Tokyo’s busiest stations. Look at the proportions, windows and changes of level, then pause over tea if you choose the refreshment ticket.

Explore at a measured pace

This protected historic building rewards close looking. We suggest treating it as a dedicated architecture stop, with time to move between the hall and the rooms that are open that day.

Add a cup of tea

The refreshment ticket includes coffee or tea and baked goods in the hall or dining room. It accompanies a building visit; there is no independently operating café.

Check access and photography rules

Weddings and room rentals can restrict opening. The building has steps and stairs: consult the accessibility guidance if needed. Video, tripods, selfie sticks and commercial photography are prohibited for ordinary visitors.
