Koganei · Architecture & everyday life
Walk through Tokyo’s changing streets.

Look at how people lived
The outdoor collection includes farmhouses, architect-designed homes and shop buildings. The streetscape invites comparison: look at signs, shopfronts, materials and room layouts as well as the largest buildings.
Plan a half-day outing
We suggest leaving half a day for the park and museum, including the journey from your station. Much of the visit involves outdoor walking, so check the weather and choose comfortable shoes. Follow entry instructions at each historic building.
Check the calendar and tickets
The museum normally closes on Mondays, moving the closure to the following day when Monday is a public holiday, and over New Year. Date-specific online tickets and same-day tickets are available. Check current building closures and special opening arrangements before travelling.
