Roppongi · Design & architecture
See everyday things through design.

Choose an exhibition, not just a building
Check the current programme before setting out: subjects, admission charges and gallery use change. The official English site links to each exhibition and its ticket information. Installation periods can close the galleries between shows.
Look at the roof, then the space below
Architect Tadao Ando took inspiration from Issey Miyake’s idea of a piece of cloth. Much of the building lies below ground, so the modest profile above the lawn gives way to a different sense of scale inside.
Pair it with a garden walk
We suggest leaving time for Midtown Garden before or after the exhibition. In addition to regular closures, the venue has announced a closure on 21–23 November 2026 for scheduled work at Tokyo Midtown. Check the latest calendar when planning your visit.
