Nezu / Bunkyo
A shrine walk beyond the main avenues.
Vermilion gates, a pond-side setting and historic shrine buildings make Nezu a rewarding stop in a Yanaka–Nezu walk. Leave time for the wider precinct, not only the well-known torii path.

Look beyond the torii
The shrine’s complex includes structures completed in 1706 and designated Important Cultural Properties. The Otome Inari area adds a different, smaller scale to the walk. Keep paths clear for worshippers.
Spring is a different visit
Azaleas bring extra visitors during the flowering season. Bloom dates and access to the flower area are seasonal; check current notices before building a trip around them. Outside that season, focus on the shrine and surrounding streets.
