Okachimachi / Akihabara
Craft beneath the railway.
Between Okachimachi and Akihabara, a row of studios, shops and cafés turns the space below the railway into a place to browse contemporary Japanese craft. It is an easy detour for visitors who like seeing the objects they buy up close.

Walk the whole passage first
The development brings together roughly 50 businesses. Take an initial lap before choosing a shop to linger in; a maker’s materials and finish often explain more than a quick souvenir search.
Plan for the shops, not just the passage
Public passage access and shop opening hours are different. Consult the current tenant list for a particular maker or workshop. Pair the stop with Ueno or Akihabara instead of travelling across the city for one unconfirmed store.
