Bugaku is the dance component of gagaku. This exhibition approaches its traditions through costumes preserved by temples and shrines, including historic examples associated with Kōyasan, Shitennōji and Rinnōji.
This is an exhibition of costume and textile heritage, rather than a scheduled live dance performance. Reading about gagaku first will help place the garments in context.
